Marek Švejkar, the first Czech clarinetist accepted into the Paris Conservatoire (CNSMDP), has released his debut album this year, titled Connection – Années de pèlerinage. Released by the radio label Radioservis, the album features a selection of alternating works by French and Czech composers, with Švejkar joined by his long-standing piano partner, Lenka Korecká.
"The debut album Connection is the culmination of more than a decade of performing, musical partnership, and the complex paths of life. The entire disc is constructed as a guide through Czech and French clarinet repertoire, which in many cases has not yet been recorded, thus marking several world premieres." This is how Marek Švejkar introduces his new album in the liner notes—and he will provide even more detail in today’s episode of Akademie on the Vltava station. He will also discuss his studies at home and abroad, his current inspirations and future plans, and the specific compositions featured on the album by authors such as Charles-Marie Widor, Oldřich Flosman, Gabriel Fauré, Adam Skoumal, Zdeněk Fibich, and Pablo de Sarasate. Produced by Zdeněk Havlíček.
